Do not harden your heart

Do not harden your heart

Do not harden your heart

Exodus chapter 7,8,9,10,11 and 12
The book of Exodus was written by Prophet Moises the word “Exodus” means “Exodos” in Greek word “ the road out “ or Departure
There is a known name in the book of Exodus other than Moses and it is “Pharaoh”. Pharaoh was King of Egypt and he was also one of the most powerful people of his time. He ruled the land of Egypt but according to the book of Exodus, Pharaoh is a cruel king that enslaved and tortured the Israelites during his time. In Exodus chapter 1, He ordered the killings of the male children in the time of Moses.
In addition to that Pharaoh's belief is not in the real God but in things that they personally benefit from, cultures, as well as people who have the ability to do magic or enchant. He even considered himself a god that's why we can see that kind of belief is called “Polytheistic“ which means believing on many gods and goddesses.

The Lord is ultimately angry at Pharaoh, why? For years and years, he had enslaved generations of generations of Israelites. Pharaoh has been torturing God’s chosen people. And that is why God’s ultimate plan is not to discipline his children- the Israelites but to show them that He is God. That’s why the Lord’s plan for Moses is to set His people free. Pharaoh was a stubborn man who thought himself as a god. Therefore, the Lord sent not only 1 but 10 plagues to remind Pharaoh that he cannot undermine the power of our one true God.
The ten plagues came to Pharaoh and in the tenth plague it became bloody and sad for Pharaoh the plague of first born broke Pharaoh's heart to follow the true God to expel the son of Israel.
Exodus 12:29 - And it came to pass, that at midnight the LORD smote all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sat on his throne unto the firstborn of the captive that was in the dungeon; and all the firstborn of cattle.
Exodus 12:30 - And Pharaoh rose up in the night, he, and all his servants, and all the Egyptians; and there was a great cry in Egypt; for there was not a house where there was not one dead.
Sometimes, the problems, trials, and difficulties are the Lord's way to wake us up and for Him to introduce himself in our lives as God. On the other hand, the problems, trials and difficulties could also be the result when we do not follow God. Leading our heart to become hard against God.
The Bible says Exodus 10:3 - And Moses and Aaron came in unto Pharaoh, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD God of the Hebrews, How long wilt thou refuse to humble thyself before me? let my people go, that they may serve me.
How’s our heart today? Until when we harden our heart to the Lord?
Sometimes we are in too much power.
Sometimes we boast our wealth.
Sometimes we are so proud and love ourselves so much.
We have forgotten to believe that there is one true God that we should serve.
Many people today fall into the “Heart of unbelief“. In our time, people believe in Heaven but they don’t believe in Hell.
Revelation 20:14 - And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
Revelation 20:15 - And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
Many people today they believe in God but they don’t believe that Jesus Christ is the son of God.
John 3:17 - For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
John 3:18 - He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
How long will we harden our hearts to God?

Even though we are already believers of the Lord Jesus Christ we can’t deny that sometimes we harden our hearts in following the will of God in our lives. As a believers of Christ we need to put in our heart that there are consequences to those who reject the voice of the Lord. We know that our Christian life is not perfect but let's not forget that there is a perfect God to help us be an effective Christians in His ministry. Let's always hold on to His Promises because there is blessing for those who know how to obey and humble themselves to God.
1 Peter 5:6 - Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:

James 4:6 - But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.
James 4:7 - Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
James 4:8 - Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.
James 4:9 - Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness.
James 4:10 - Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.

Surrender your heart to our blessed Savior Jesus Christ. Get to know Him through the scripture, turn to Him in prayer and repent.
