Without the testing there’s no testimony.
Galatians 5:22-26
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
26 Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.
I have 3 points but before the point, 1 questions first.
How are you all? Physically, mentally and spiritually?
Are you comfortable? Good. Because I’m about to make you feel uncomfortable.
What’s the hardest thing on earth? Diamond? Steel? Concrete? The hulk? Dwayne the rock Johnson?
For me, it’s being a Christlike person- why? We’re constantly fighting our inner selves. Our innate desires. The silent whispers that only you can hear… unless I’m just loosing mind and I’m going crazy. But we all have that inner deeper thoughts that only we can hear… it differs from person to person. For me?
I’m just a man, I’m still in the flesh I’m still a human being..
Lusts for women? Or Money
Vices- drugs, cigarettes and alcohol
Work or career?
Character/personality?
Environment/surroundings?
When I became a nurse, all I wanted to do was work with thornbury, work for a couple of years and retire. I thought I would work with the highest paying agency for a couple of years and then I will be ready to retire. But that’s not how it works. But the thing is ladies and gentlemen, when you dedicate your self to something, when you harness all your skills and abilities and deploy it into something that you have passion for, you will yield rewards.
In February this year I was given the opportunity to bring my services and my skills to a ward that was in need of help. And there, I really gave it my all, my passion, my drive (quit literally- Portsmouth) and the reward was that I was acknowledge by the whole of nhs Solent for my services. Now, how much more for the lord? Are you giving your all? Your drive? Your passion? Your skill sets? Your talents that the lord has given you? If you have brethren, you shall reap your rewards. But…
I never knew I would get an award for my hard work I would often think about wanting to leave my work and improve my career path to become a band 6 in the future. Same with our Christian life, it’s so easy to backslide and live the earthly things. How nice would it be to just sit and relax on a Sunday morning with your children watching to go to the park for a picnic and a bbq in the afternoon? Doesn’t that sound lovely?
What’s even more lovely is expressing our love for the lord. Our willingness to serve our God. To exercise not our physical body but to work out our spiritual faith by using our free will. Our free will to gather in His name, amen?
Let’s not forget how to improve our relationship with the Lord our God, our saviour.
How? By doing more in service for the Lord. Doing his will in my life. Service in song leading, pulpit leading and ushering. To play the one of our pianist or to be our audio/video technician or to be simply attending and being present in the Lords church.
At work, people say they love working with me, they always have a good shift with me or they find work enjoyable when I’m on shift. Idk if it’s because I don’t give them a hard time or I’m chill and relaxed at work. As long as my patients are safe, alive and my things to do for that day has been done then I got no problem. But what I know is… here comes the points:
3 points on how to remind ourselves to produce our fruits.
Love, joy & peace
They co-exists. Have you seen anyone who is full of love full of joy but doesn’t have peace. Or have you seen someone who’s got peace in your heart love in your heart but looks like someone who doesn’t have joy. You’re not happy to be around people, or have you seen anyone that has peace in their heart and joy in their faces, but doesn’t Express their love for someone. So these three things they coexist and as long as you show love to someone, you are expressing joy and you are showing that you have peace in your heart, because you can’t love someone if you don’t have peace in your heart you can’t really show someone true joy if you don’t have peace in your heart, the same as you can’t have peace in your heart, if you don’t show anyone love so the best way to go around this as the show love and joy and peace to your neighbours to your workmates to your enemies, and especially to the people that you love and that’s 1.
Long-suffering, gentleness & Goodness
And again, these three things, long-suffering, gentleness, and goodness, they all coexist together, why someone who can suffer long from their trials, will not be able to express humbleness will be able to be gentle with their ways, because they know the hardship of life is the same as someone who shares goodness shows generosity, not in money, but generosity in the willingness to help the willingness to want to be there for someone to give advice, but not only advice but also give it time. Someone who has a gentle heart will always know how to be long-suffering not only for their benefit, but also to be mindful about others. You can be long-suffering for your wife one for your husband. It’s not a bad thing because you can only suffer long you can only have this patience you can only have this gentleness for goodness in you to be able to suffer long is because that Christ is working within you, and that’s the only reason why you’re able to do these things and again they coexist one another so that you can bear the fruit of long-suffering, gentleness, and goodness.
Faith meekness temperance
This is the third point for this evening it’s easy to say that we will have faith right we have faith in the Lord we have faith in ourselves. We have faith in someone that we love that we trust right. But how can you measure faith? How can you say you really have faith in the Lord for you really have faith in your friend. For example, at work where the shift gets to the point where it’s starting to become in challenging staff are tired it’s been a long day you just know that it’s been one of those days that you just want to finish just, you just had enough of it. But that’s what temperance and meekness is all about. Someone with temperance is someone without rage someone who can manage their own expectation they can manage their own attitude. They can focus on themselves not to react not overreact and not to say things that they shouldn’t say they have that self control. do you have that self control and also witness someone who is meet someone who is submissive submissive and what do you husband do you live just because it says in the Bible that husband love your voice it doesn’t also mean that you can you send a message to them it’s a form to show them that you can be submissive to them want to their needs, but how about the Lord are you submissive to? The Lord is well in your life only you can answer these questions, but this lesson is to just remind you of what the fruit should be bearing, and if you’re not submissive to the Lord and if your temperance is still not to the Lord Standard, and if your faith is and gentleness is not showing someone, and if your love doesn’t show joy and peace then, do you really have the Holy Spirit in you only you can answer that question.
Like the parables of the wheat and tares brethren. When he wheat is not yet ripe it looks like tall grass, which are tares in the field. But once the wheat is ready for harvest they turn into the golden yellow colour we see in the fields. Just like us in our human flesh, while we’re still in our human flesh, our worldly habit tends to overcome us, we prioritise it over our spiritual needs. But it’s up to you to mature yourself, to ripen yourself ready for the harvest when the Lord comes amen? Make sure you are not if the tares, if this world but of the golden wheat, saved and ready for harvest.
Brethren, only you can change your selves, according to the Lord is well in your life. if you live in spirit, spirit lives in you. Because you have accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal saviour. Your old self is now what? Dead in sin. You are a new creature. Just like me at work, my old self was a band 2 I love working with patients. But now I’m a band 5 I’ve had to learn to stay away from doing band two jobs so I can focus on doing bank five jobs plans making notes for care plan meetings working in within the MDT for the benefit of the patients. The same in our Christian life, we must continue, inviting ourselves our old self in order for us to grow and mature in the word of God, continuing to learn his word, and by doing that you are removing yourself from doing what you’re old self would have been doing whatever that may be.
Amen, so I hope you learn something this evening, and just remember the fruits of the Holy Spirit you should be choosing of the fruits of the Holy Spirit. You should be manifesting the fruit of the spirit. Does the fruits of the Holy Spirit dwell in you? I hope it does. I pray it does brethren. lets close this in prayer.
